Two hearts drawn in the sand on a beach.

Loving Human Praise More Than God Praise

Jesus wants us to be Hot for him. We are called to purpose for the Kingdom of God. Sometimes our assignment may not be pleasing to people. We complete our assignments to honor God and for His Praise. Not everyone who receives the Gospel will accept it. Some people follow religion for the human honor or for monetary gain. Let’s look at another prophecy fulfilled by our Messiah and people’s responses.

“Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to enter into his glory. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me. “Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! Father, bring glory to your name.†Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, “I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again.â€â€

John 12:23-28 NLT

Pause here: Jesus felt deeply troubled about his purpose. This is an example that we too may feel uneasy about what God calls us to do. However, Jesus pushes through because he knows it was God’s plan for Him to bear the Cross that we may be saved. Holding back your Kingdom Purpose not only affects you but can have an impact on many other people.

Jesus reminds us that our time to Follow Christ on Earth is limited, so seize the opportunity to follow while time remains.

“Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.†After saying these things, Jesus went away and was hidden from them.†

John 12:35-36 NLT

Let’s look at a prophecy fulfilled:

“But the people couldn’t believe, for as Isaiah also said, “The Lord has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts— so that their eyes cannot see, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and have me heal them.â€

John 12:39-40 NLT

I asked the Holy Spirit what could cause these people who witnessed such great things not want to follow Jesus?

The Holy Spirit showed me this:

“Many people did believe in him, however, including some of the Jewish leaders. But they wouldn’t admit it for fear that the Pharisees would expel them from the synagogue. For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.†

John 12:42-43 NLT

I thought about in today’s times. Many people believe in Jesus but they do not surrender their lives to Jesus. Surrendered life means allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us to purpose for Godly fruitful production, regardless of what people think about. We become obedient to God.

Let me remind you demons even believe in God and fear him.

“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?†

James 2:19-20 NLT
